Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need a passport to take the Carnival Cruise to the Bahamas and/or Mexico?
When you take a cruise, you will be required to submit proof of citizenship. In addition, U.S. Travel Requirements are set to change in the summer of 2009, per the United States Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. In most cases, you will need a passport book or passport card. However, there are other documents that may suffice. Trip Sports takes no responsibility for the accuracy of the above statements. You alone are responsible for determining what documentation you will need to prove your citizenship. 3. How do we make purchases while onboard the Carnival ship?
All purchases onboard the ship are done via Carnival's "Sail & Sign" card. Sail & Sign is Carnival's onboard cashless credit program which allows you to charge, at your convenience, all your services and purchases paid throughout the cruise. All locations onboard will accept your Sail & Sign card for payment, casino will also accept cash. For more information, please visit the following page on Carnival's site:
4. I do not understand this "Sail & Sign" card. Can you explain how it works?
Every passenger who boards the cruise is given a "Sail & Sign" card. This card is printed with your name on it, your cabin number, and an identification number. This last number is the number of your purchasing account with the ship. The card itself looks like a credit card.
To make a purchase on the ship, you must use your "Sail & Sign" card. However, in order to use it, you must have activated it. For example, when you go to purchase a Coke, the waiter will take your card to the register and run your identification number. If you have not activated it, the purchase will be declined and you will not get the Coke.
There are two ways to activate your "Sail & Sign" card. You can provide the check-in staff with a credit card OR you can provide them with a cash deposit. If you choose the credit card route, at the end of the cruise your card is charged for whatever you purchased. If you choose to give them a cash deposit, your "Sail & Sign" card basically acts like a debit card. If you run out of funds, you have to go to the ship's front desk and give them more cash. If at the end of the cruise you have funds still left on the card, the cruise line issues you a check that you can take with you when you leave.
